why ride outside?
Exploring public land on horseback is a unique and intimate way to experience the outdoors. Not only am I passing through wild landscapes, I am coexisting in them with my animals, who savor bites of mountain grass and sip deeply from glacial streams. Witnessing my horses act as though they felt at home in the wilderness made me feel more connected to the trails we traveled. I was inspired to create Ride Outside as a platform to unite fellow equine and backcountry enthusiasts.
My goal is to connect trail riders and the wider outdoor community in an effort to provide education, promote trail stewardship, and advocate for public land access through positive action.
Platform pillars:
Land stewardship:
In order to be effective land stewards, we need to understand how we can individually care for our wild places and come together as a collective to create change. Education is the foundation of advocacy!
Wilderness horsemanship:
Horses are the original 4x4 vehicle, built for exploring. Check out tips & resources for backcountry riding on my blog.
Unity:
Connecting equestrians with other outdoor communities builds mutual understanding, makes the trails safer for riders, and creates a stronger coalition of people who care about conservation.
Access:
The trails are for everyone. Sharing knowledge and advocating to protect public land are the best tools we have to make the outdoors accessible for all.
